What is this?

The Seven Mile Bridge is a famous bridge that is located in the Florida Keys. This connects the Knight’s Key in the Middle Keys to Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys. This is a significant construction of the Overseas Highway (U.S. Route 1). This stretches from Key Largo to Key West. This bridge is renowned for its spectacular picturesque views that give you absolutely incredible views of the oceans of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. The Seven Mile Bridge is so popular for how it is created that even Hollywood wanted it to be a part of it! Many Hollywood movies have scenes shot on this amazing engineering marvel.

Is there a history?

Oh, absolutely! The Seven Mile Bridge was originally constructed as part of the Overseas Railroad in the early 1900s. However, the shocking hurricane in 1935 destroyed a huge part of the railroad. Later, the structure of the Seven Mile Bridge was reconstructed and was turned into a highway. The New Seven Mile Bridge was built in the 1980s that replaced the older bridge sections.

The bridge is made into one by two separate bridges; the older one, famously known as the “Old Seven Mile Bridge,” is for pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the oceans and skies. The new bridge is built parallel to the old one which is used for cars. People can enjoy the scenic beauty while driving.
